Castles & Crusades is a rules light fantasy role playing game that uses an attribute check system to resolve all non-combat related mechanics. Called the Siege Engine, it takes about 15 minutes to learn. You'll spend another 15 minutes making your characters...the hardest thing about character generation is choosing the name...and then your gaming.

The Siege Engine works like this. Anytime something needs resolved, swimming a river, convincing a bartender to tell the truth, anything at all, you make an attribute check roll. The CK is going to tell you what attribute, you roll a d20, add your level, add your attribute bonus if you have one, and let the CK know if it's prime or secondary. On their end the CK determines what the challenge level is, adds it to the challenge base...12 for primary attributes, 18 for secondary attributes...and if your number met or exceeded the number, you succeeded. If not, better luck next time. That's the game's driving mechanic!
